Select 3D solids, regions, meshes or polymesh objects:

Select insertion point:

CAD-Earth version: Plus, Premium.

Command description:

You can export to Google Earth 3D models imported with CAD-Earth, 3D solids, regions, meshes, polymesh entities, and blocks containing these entities. Once the 3D entities are exported, a compressed KMZ file will be created containing the location and camera view information, texture, and DAE files, and Google Earth will be opened to show them inserted in the real-world location.

Example of a 3D model exported to Google Earth©

Dialog box settings:

ØFolder Name: This text will appear in the Google Earth Places Pane to identify the node containing the 3D model information.

ØView

Heading. The direction of the camera, in decimal degrees. Values range from 0 to 360 degrees in clockwise direction from the vertical Y axis.

Tilt. Rotation, in decimal degrees, of the camera around the X-axis. A value of 0 indicates that the view is aimed straight down toward the earth. A value of 90 indicates that the view is aimed toward the horizon. Values greater than 90 indicate that the view is pointed up into the sky. Values can range from 0 to 180 degrees.

Offset from ground: The 3D entities will be inserted at the point selected, offsetting this point vertically the distance specified from the ground.

File path:  The path where the resulting KMZ file will be saved.

Tips:

The drawing must be georeferenced and the 3D entities correctly placed and scaled before using this command.

Google Earth has a limit of about 64K vertices per model. If this limit is reached, the 3D model will not be shown in Google Earth. To circumvent this limitation, you can export models separately and avoid selecting internal 3D entities that will not be visible, or prepare 3D models containing only visible exterior elements. If you select multiple blocks with the same name, the number of vertices will be counted only once.

The resulting KMZ file contains all the required information to display the 3D entities, and you can open this single file in Google Earth without the need to have AutoCAD or CAD-Earth installed.

You can rename the KMZ file with a ZIP extension and extract the 3D model DAE, texture and KML files containing the model information using any ZIP extractor.
